The illustration, refined to the smallest detail, shows the battle scene during the Battle of Cedynia - the first battle in Polish history known for the exact date and place of the clash, in which the forces led by Prince Mieszko I of Polan defeated the troops led by Margrave Hodon - one of the Saxon margraves who constantly fought with the Slavs. A Polish warrior in medieval armor and with an ax in his hand will go on the offensive in a moment.
